      The San Francisco Arts Commission acknowledges that we are on the unceded ancestral homeland of the Ramaytush Ohlone who are the original inhabitants of the San Francisco Peninsula. As the indigenous stewards of this land and in accordance with their traditions, the Ramaytush Ohlone have never ceded, lost nor forgotten their responsibilities as the caretakers of this place, as well as for all peoples who reside in their traditional territory. As guests, we recognize that we benefit from living and working on their traditional homeland. We wish to pay our respects by acknowledging the ancestors, elders and relatives of the Ramaytush Community and by affirming their sovereign rights as First Peoples. As a department dedicated to promoting a diverse and equitable Arts and Culture environment in San Francisco, we are committed to supporting the traditional and contemporary evolution of the American Indian community.

      1. Motion to approve "Waverly Dancing Lanterns," a mural design by Jess Tse. The mural will be installed on the parklet in front of Spicy Shrimp at 150 Waverly Place between Washington and Clay streets. in District 3. The mural measures approximately 4 ft. tall by 16ft. wide along the front of the parklet and 4 ft. tall by 6 ft. wide on the sides of the parklet. The artwork is funded by a Shared Spaces Arts and Culture Grant and will not become part of the Civic Art Collection.
         
      2. Motion to approve "2024 Ocean Avenue Utility Box Mural Project" a mural design by Leonard Reidelbach and Youth Art Exchange. The vinyl wrapped design is for 10 SFMTA utility boxes along and surrounding Ocean Avenue in Supervisor District 7. The artwork is funded by District 7 Participatory Funding Project and will not become part of the Civic Art Collection. The 10 utility boxes are located at: Ocean & Howth; Ocean/Geneva/Frida Khalo; Ocean & Lee; Ocean & Brighton; Ocean & Faxon; Ashton & Ocean; Ocean & Victoria; Frida Khalo Way @ Muni, City Bus Terminal Loop; Frida Khalo Way mid-Block at Cloud Circle; Capital & Ocean. 
         
      3. Motion to approve "All The Little Pieces That Make Up The Whole," a mural design by Colette Crutcher. The mosaic mural will be installed on three sides of two planters in the parklet in front of Pinhole Coffee at 231 Cortland Ave. between Bonview St. and Bocana St. in District 9. The mosaic mural panels measure 43 in. by 38 in., 43 in by 12 in., 20 in. by 16 in. and 20 in. by 18 in. The artwork is funded by a Shared Spaces Arts and Culture Grant and will not become part of the Civic Art Collection.
         
      4. Motion to retroactively approve and accept into the Civic Art Collection 2024.05, "Trajectory San Francisco," 2023, single-channel digital video, 03:12 minutes, by Miguel Arzabe. The artwork is on display at 49 South Van Ness and was approved as installed under Res. No. 0906-24-397.
         
      5. Motion to retroactively approve and accept into the Civic Art Collection 2024.06, "PsyClone Calafia," 2023, single-channel digital video, 03:00 minutes, by Zenia Barakeh. The artwork is on display at 49 South Van Ness and was approved as installed under Res. No. 0906-24-397.
         
      6. Motion to retroactively approve and accept into the Civic Art Collection 2024.07, "Workers at Night," 2023, single-channel digital video, 03:00 minutes, by Susana Canales Barron. The artwork is on display at 49 South Van Ness and was approved as installed under Res. No. 0906-24-397.

Motion to retroactively approve and accept into the Civic Art Collection 2024.09, "Alcatraz is an Idea," 2023, single-channel digital video, 01:20 minutes, by Kota Ezawa and Julian Brave NoiseCat. The artwork is on display at 49 South Van Ness and was approved as installed under Res. No. 0906-24-397.
         
      9. Motion to retroactively approve and accept into the Civic Art Collection 2024.10, "Coherence," 2023, single-channel digital video, 01:56 minutes, by Chitra Ganesh. The artwork is on display at 49 South Van Ness and was approved as installed under Res. No. 0906-24-397.
         
      10. Motion to retroactively approve and accept into the Civic Art Collection 2024.11, "Legends of the 7 x 7," 2023, single-channel digital video, 02:49 minutes, by Sean Patrick Gibson. The artwork is on display at 49 South Van Ness and was approved as installed under Res. No. 0906-24-397.

Motion to retroactively approve and accept into the Civic Art Collection 2024.15, "Nothing is forever in the constant flux of building and maintaining," 2023, single-channel digital video, 01:10 minutes, by Selina Trepp. The artwork is on display at 49 South Van Ness and was approved as installed under Res. No. 0906-24-397.
         
      15. Motion to retroactively approve and accept into the Civic Art Collection 2021.41.a-g, "Arc-Cycle," 2021, fritted glass with color interlayer and six laser etched granite images by Catherine Wagner. The artwork is installed at Central Subway, Yerba Buena Moscone Station Headhouse at the street level and the concourse level and was approved as installed under Res. No. 0712-21-166.
         
      16. Motion to retroactively approve and accept into the Civic Art Collection 2021.42, "Face C/Z," 2021, glass, wood, brushed stainless steel measuring H168 in. by W420 in. by Leslie Shows. The artwork is installed at Central Subway, Yerba Buena Moscone Station, concourse level and was approved as installed under Res. No. 0712-21-167.
         
      17. Motion to retroactively approve and accept into the Civic Art Collection 2023.08, "Node," 2013/2023, stainless steel, measuring approximately 103 ft. tall and tapering from a 48 in. base to ½ in. tip, by Roxy Paine. The artwork is installed at Central Subway, Yerba Buena Moscone Station at the corner of 4th and Clementina Streets and was approved as installed under Res. No. 605-23-099.
         
      18. Motion to retroactively approve and accept into the Civic Art Collection 2022.63, "A Sense of Community," 2022, ceramic tile, measuring 34 ft. by 14 ft. by Clare Rojas. The artwork is installed at Central Subway, Chinatown Rose Pak Station, Ticketing Level, Crosscut Cavern and was approved as installed under Res. No. 1107-22-207.
         
      19. Motion to retroactively approve and accept into the Civic Art Collection 2022.62.a-b, "Yangge: Dance of the New Year," 2022, 35 ft. by 16 ft. and "Yangge: Dance of the Bride," 2022, 34 ft. by 27 ft., laser-cut, painted steel panels by Yumei Hou. The artwork is installed at Central Subway, Chinatown-Rose Pak Station, South Mezzanine Landing and the North Ticketing Hall walls and was approved as installed under Res. No. 1107-22-206.
         
      20. Motion to approve and accept into the Civic Art Collection, 2024.16, "Lady Bayview," 2024, a design for the India Basin Waterfront Park Project at Pier 2 at 900 Innes Ave. by Raylene Gorum. The integrated concrete paving was approved as installed under Res. No. 1007-24-431 and will be maintained by the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department.

    4. Temporary Artwork Installation

      Discussion and Possible Action

      Discussion and possible action to approve the temporary installation of a 13 ft. tall by 15 ft. 5 in. wide by 6 ft. deep sculpture by Katy Boynton titled "Heartfullness," 2012, fabricated from I-beam base, concrete block anchors, steel metal frame, and clad in Corten mild steel. The sculpture will be installed on the sidewalk at the intersection of Market Street, Mason Street, and Turk Street, from December 3, 2024 – June 3, 2025. It is funded by Mid-Market Foundation and Sijbrandij Foundation and will be maintained by Building 180 and the artist. The artwork will not become part of the Civic Art Collection.

    5. 11th and Natoma Park ("Rachele Sullivan Park") Public Art Project

      Discussion and possible action to approve the conceptual design proposal "Natomarama" by Jenifer Wofford for the 11th and Natoma Park ("Rachele Sullivan Park") Public Art Project, as recommended by the artist review panel.

      Discussion and possible action to authorize the Director of Cultural Affairs to enter into a contract with Jenifer Wofford for an amount not to exceed $25,000 for the design of art fence panels, as well as consultation during fabrication and installation for the 11th and Natoma Park ("Rachele Sullivan Park") Public Art Project

    6. HYBYCOZO Sculpture at Mint Plaza

      Discussion and Possible Action

      Discussion and possible action to approve as installed the completed artwork titled "Aurum," 2024, by HYBYCOZO (Yelena Filipchuk and Serge Beaulieu) at Mint Plaza. The artwork is a geometric powder coated stainless steel light sculpture installed along Jessie Street between Fifth and Mint streets. It measures approximately 13 ½ ft. by 12 ft. by 12 ft. and weighs nearly 2,000 pounds.

    Public comment

    Public comments are accepted in person at all San Francisco Arts Commission public meetings. Remote public comment is available for those who require an ADA accommodation. Please reach out to art-info@sfgov.org or by calling 415-252-2247 with any questions or to make an accommodation request. We request at least 48 hours in advance of the meeting, pursuant to Administrative Code Section 97.7. Late requests will be honored if possible. For meetings scheduled on Mondays, please submit requests by 4:00 p.m. the previous Friday.

    Public comment in regard to specific agenda items will be taken before or during consideration of the item. Each speaker may speak for up to three minutes per agenda item, unless the Chair has announced a different length of time at the beginning of the meeting. Speakers may not transfer their time to another person. Any person speaking during a public comment period may supply a written summary of their comments to be included in the minutes if it is 150 words or less. 

    Persons attending the meeting and those unable to attend may also submit written comments of 150 words or less regarding specific agenda items or general public comment regarding items under the purview of the Arts Commission. Written comments submitted to and received by Arts Commission staff by 5:00 p.m. before the date of the meeting, or received within 10 days after a public meeting, will be brought to the attention of the commission and made part of the official public record.     1. Agenda items will normally be heard in order. Please note, that on occasion a special circumstance may necessitate that an agenda item be taken out of order. To ensure that an agenda item is not missed, it is advised to arrive at the beginning of the meeting. All agenda changes will be announced by the Chair at the top of the meeting.

    2. Public comment will be taken before or during the Committee’s consideration of each agenda item. Each speaker will be allowed to speak for the time allotted by the Chair at the top of the meeting for up to three (3) minutes.

    3. During General Public Comment, members of the public may address the Commissioners on matters that are within the Arts Commission’s jurisdiction and are not on the agenda.

    4. Any person speaking during a public comment period may supply a brief written summary of their comments, which shall, if no more than 150 words, be included in the official file. Written comments pertaining to this meeting should be submitted to art-info@sfgov.org.

    5. Persons attending the meeting and those unable to attend may submit written comments regarding the subject of the meeting. Such comments will be made part of the official public record and will be brought to the attention of the committee.
