All City employees and City officers have a responsibility to set a positive example and must refrain from engaging in Disrespectful Behavior, whether deliberate or unintentional. The City will not tolerate Disrespectful Behavior in any City workplace, and seeks to intervene at the earliest sign or stage of Disrespectful Behavior to correct that misconduct and prevent its reoccurrence.

The Department of Public Health has adopted this non-retaliation policy to ensure that employees who report known or alleged Compliance Program violations may do so without fear of discrimination, harassment, or retaliation from superiors, peers or subordinates within the organization.

Discriminating against or harassing City and County of San Francisco (City) employees, applicants, or people providing services to the City by contract (including supervisory and non-supervisory employees) because of their characteristics is not allowed by law.

The City and County of San Francisco (City) Civil Service Commission is committed to maintaining a professional work environment free of conflicts of interest, nepotism, and favoritism. Employees may not make, participate in making, or influence any employment decision involving a related person.

The City’s Lactation Policy ensures that employees have consistent guidance with clearly defined roles and responsibilities for supervisors and lactating parents. The policy aims to create a culture where lactation support is part of everyday work-life.

All DPH employees must adhere to guidelines, policies, rules, and regulations regarding medical clearance.

The purpose of this policy is to inform employees that violence in DPH’s workplace is prohibited, and to provide assistance for employees who have been subject to a verbal or physical threat and/or violent behavior.

On August 3, 2021, the San Francisco Health Commission adopted Resolution 21-9 which states that a Land Acknowledgement will be read aloud at the start of each Health Commission and Department of Public Health (DPH) meeting that is open to the public in accordance with the San Francisco Sunshine Ordinance

This Statement of Incompatible Activities is intended to guide officers and employees of the San Francisco Department of Public Health ("Department") and Health Commission about the kinds of activities that are incompatible with their public duties and therefore prohibited.
