      The San Francisco Arts Commission acknowledges that we are on the unceded ancestral homeland of the Ramaytush Ohlone who are the original inhabitants of the San Francisco Peninsula. As the indigenous stewards of this land and in accordance with their traditions, the Ramaytush Ohlone have never ceded, lost nor forgotten their responsibilities as the caretakers of this place, as well as for all peoples who reside in their traditional territory. As guests, we recognize that we benefit from living and working on their traditional homeland. We wish to pay our respects by acknowledging the ancestors, elders and relatives of the Ramaytush Community and by affirming their sovereign rights as First Peoples.       1. Motion to approve the restoration of the mural The Chant of the Earth, the Voice of the Land, being lead by Betsie Miller-Kusz. The mural is located on the retaining wall on Market St. at 19th St. in District 8. The mural measures 14 ft. at its highest point by 120 ft. wide. The restoration is funded by Special Project Grants and will not become part of the Civic Art Collection. 

         

      1. Motion to approve Mr. S Leather, a mural design by Serge Gay, Jr. The mural will be installed at Heron Street at 8th Street, in District 6. The mural measures approximately 20 ft. by 37 ft. The artwork is funded by MOHCD Cultural District and Private Funds and will not become part of the Civic Art Collection. 

         

      1. Motion to approve The Excelsior Over Time, a mural design by Claudio Talavera-Ballón. The mural will be installed at four locations at 4840 Mission St. between Onondaga and Seneca in District 11. The mural measures approximately 852.25 sq. ft. The artwork is funded by MOHCD and will not become part of the Civic Art Collection. 

         

      1. Motion to approve Sanctorum, a mural design by Mel Vera Cruz. The mural will be installed at 4th St. between Howard St. and Folsom St. in District 6. The mural will be installed on three walls, measuring approximately 10 ft by 20 ft., 15 ft. by 40 ft.,15 ft. by 40 ft., and one stairway measuring approximately 20 ft. wide and 30 total steps. The artwork is funded by Caltrans Clean California and will not become part of the Civic Art Collection. 

         

      1. Motion to approve WolfSkate, a mural design by Dennis McNett. The mural will be installed on 521 Jessie St. at 6th St. in District 6. The mural measures approximately 10 ft by 50 ft. The artwork is funded by OEWD and a grant from SFMTA and will not become part of the Civic Art Collection. 

         

      1. Motion to approve In Unity SF Skate, a mural design by Jeffery Cheung. The mural will be installed on 521 Jessie St. along the parking lot side of the building in District 6. The mural measures approximately 55 ft by 10 ft. The artwork is funded by OEWD and a grant from SFMTA and will not become part of the Civic Art Collection. 

         

      1. Motion to approve SFC415, a mural design by Alex “Neckface” Montijo. The mural will be installed on 64 6th St. at Jessie St, in District 6. The mural measures approximately 10 ft by 60 ft. The artwork is funded by OEWD and a grant from SFMTA and will not become part of the Civic Art Collection. 

         

      1. Motion to amend formerly approved RESOLUTION NO. 0503-21-114 to extend the installation an additional six months and to amend the name of the artist so that the revised motion reads: Motion to approve the design of Monumental Reckoning, by sculptor Dana King in partnership with the Museum of African Diaspora. The installation consists of three hundred-fifty 4’ figures surrounding the Francis Scott Key monument in Golden Gate Park. The installation will be from June 1, 2021 - December 31, 2023, with artwork to be deinstalled no later than January 14, 2024. The installation will not become part of the Civic Art Collection. 

         

      1. Motion to enter into agreement with First Exposures for a summer youth photography program on Treasure Island, starting in June 2023, ending in August 2023, for an amount not to exceed $25,000. 

         

      1. Motion to extend the contract of Mido Lee until July 31, 2023 and with an additional cost increase not to exceed $300 to cover the cost of extending the insurance required to continue work on the Treasure Island Documentary Photography program.

    1. Agenda items will normally be heard in order. Please note, that on occasion a special circumstance may necessitate that an agenda item be taken out of order. To ensure that an agenda item is not missed, it is advised to arrive at the beginning of the meeting. All agenda changes will be announced by the Chair at the top of the meeting. 

    2. Public comment will be taken before or during the Committee’s consideration of each agenda item. Each speaker will be allowed to speak for the time allotted by the Chair at the top of the meeting or up to three (3) minutes.  

    3. During General Public Comment, members of the public may address the Commissioners on matters that are within the Arts Commission’s jurisdiction and are not on the agenda.

    Government’s duty is to serve the public, reaching its decision in full view of the public. Commissions, boards, councils and other agencies of the City and County exist to conduct the people’s business. This ordinance assures that deliberations are conducted before the people and that City operations are open to the people’s review.     Individuals and entities that influence or attempt to influence local legislative or administrative action may be required by the San Francisco Lobbyist Ordinance (San Francisco Campaign and Governmental Conduct Code sections 2.100-2.160) to register and report lobbying activity.

    Per the American Disabilities Act and the Language Access Ordinance, Chinese, Spanish, and/or American Sign Language interpreters will be available upon request. Additionally, every effort will be made to provide a sound enhancement system, meeting materials in alternative formats, and/or a reader. Minutes may be translated after they have been adopted by the Commission. For all these requests, please contact Commission Secretary Traka Lopez-White at least 48 hours before the meeting at 415-252-2255, Traka.lopez-white@sfgov.org. Late requests will be honored if possible. The hearing room is wheelchair accessible.

En adición, se hará todo el esfuerzo posible para proveer un sistema mejoramiento de sonido, materiales de la reunión en formatos alternativos, y/o proveer un leedor. Las minutas podrán ser traducidas luego de ser aprobadas por la Comisión.
