SF Pride Civil Ceremony Appointments Opening April 25, 2025
Please note:
On Friday, June 27—the Friday of SF Pride Weekend—the Office of the County Clerk will host over 200 marriage ceremonies in celebration of LGBTQ Pride. Marriage ceremony appointments for Friday, June 27 will open at 9AM on Friday, April 25, 2025 and again on Friday, May 23, 2025. Roughly 100 appointments will become available on each of these 2 dates. Appointments are expected to fill up. You MUST have a San Francisco-issued marriage license to participate in this event.
Service Announcement
On April 1, 2025, you will be able to book your civil ceremony appointments directly through the Office of the County Clerk’s website. There is a 2% service fee for all credit and debit card transactions. There is no fee for payments made using a checking account. You MUST have your marriage license or be able to enter the date of your marriage license appointment at the time of booking.
Eligibility
A civil marriage ceremony may only be performed for 2 unmarried persons who present a valid original California marriage license prior to the ceremony.
What to do
You cannot reschedule a civil marriage or domestic partnership ceremony appointment. You must cancel your appointment in-person or through the online booking system. You will NOT get your money back.
1. Make an appointment
You must pay for your ceremony by credit card at the time of scheduling.
Ceremony appointments are available every half hour between 9 am and 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
You cannot choose the location of your ceremony. You will be assigned a room based on what is available. Possible rooms include our private ceremony room or the rotunda at City Hall.
2. Invite your guests and witnesses
You are allowed up to 6 guests total. The guest count includes any photographers, videographers, children, witnesses, etc.
For a Public Marriage Ceremony, you must have 1 witness present during your ceremony.
For a Confidential Marriage Ceremony, no witnesses are required.
*County Clerk staff cannot serve as a witness for marriage ceremonies. You are responsible for providing your own witness.
3. Bring your marriage license
Bring your original government-issued marriage license on the day of your ceremony. They will not be available for purchase on the same day as your ceremony.
4. Arrive on your ceremony day
Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment.
Be prepared for your civil ceremony appointment with the following:
- Valid, authentic, legal government-issued photo identification for each person
- A valid, unexpired, marriage license issued by a California County. Photocopies are not acceptable.
- 1 witness if you are presenting a public marriage license.
- No witness is required if presenting a confidential marriage license.
