Juvenile Probation Department

We promote community safety by helping juvenile justice-involved young people and their families to thrive.

Serving young people is our priority

We serve young people who have been arrested in San Francisco. We help young people build skills. We connect youth and families to community supports.

Our Racial Equity work

The Juvenile Probation Department is engaged in intensive processes to advance racial equity. The enduring racial and ethnic disparities in the juvenile justice system provide stark evidence of the individual, interpersonal, institutional, and systemic racism that has underpinned San Francisco's public systems since their inception.

About

The Juvenile Probation Department provides support, services, and supervision to youth and their families during their involvement with the juvenile justice system. We also operate the San Francisco Juvenile Justice Center, a secure residential facility for young people under the jurisdiction of the Juvenile Delinquency Court.
