Celebrate Halloween at the City's Next Entertainment Zone!

On October 31st, Front Street will transform into an Entertainment Zone for "Nightmare on Front Street," which will run from 2 PM to 10 PM. Join us for a festive Halloween celebration filled with live entertainment, community spirit, and activities designed to bring the neighborhood together.

What is an Entertainment Zone? Entertainment Zones are designed to:

- Support local bars and restaurants

- Promote neighborhood economic development

- Activate public spaces with engaging activities

The program aims to create vibrant community spaces, with more zones being planned throughout the city.

The first-ever Entertainment Zone in California launched on September 20th on Front Street with Oktoberfest, hosted by the Downtown SF Partnership Central Business District. Thanks to SB 76, authored by Senator Scott Wiener, local jurisdictions can now designate Entertainment Zones where bars, restaurants, breweries, and wineries can sell to-go alcohol for consumption within the event area. The launch was a major success, drawing 10,000 attendees.

This initiative, led by Mayor London Breed and the Office of Economic and Workforce Development, is supported by the Entertainment Commission through special event permitting.

Community Challenge Grant: Mosaic Staircase Installation!

This stunning, Community Challenge Grants funded mosaic stairway will not only celebrate the rich history of Glen Park, but also pay tribute to the incredible women who fought to save the neighborhood from a proposed freeway. See it yourself as part of SF Stairway Month, a series of free events that showcase love and commitment to these public spaces including a guided walk across five of the City’s tiled staircases.

Entertainment Commission’s Work to Prevent Opioid Overdoses Recognized at the White House

On October 8th, the Entertainment Commission was recognized at the White House for its work to promote overdose prevention at nightlife spaces in partnership with SFDPH and the drag community. The EC’s Dylan Rice participated in a panel discussion about raising awareness about overdose risks from fentanyl and other opioids and ensuring access to life-saving naloxone and training. Organized by the Office of National Drug Control Policy, the “White House Challenge to Save Lives from Overdose” convened leaders from across the country to address the opioid overdose crisis. SF Bay Area drag queen Kochina Rude accompanied Rice as a partner and advocate in this work to educate audiences at drag shows and distribute free naloxone.
