    This meeting will be held in person at the location listed above. As authorized by California Government Code Section 54953(e) and Mayor Breed’s 45th Supplement to her February 25, 2020 emergency proclamation, it is possible that some members of the San Francisco Arts Commission may attend this meeting remotely. In that event, those members will participate and vote by video.       The San Francisco Arts Commission acknowledges that we are on the unceded ancestral homeland of the Ramaytush Ohlone who are the original inhabitants of the San Francisco Peninsula. As the indigenous stewards of this land and in accordance with their traditions, the Ramaytush Ohlone have never ceded, lost nor forgotten their responsibilities as the caretakers of this place, as well as for all peoples who reside in their traditional territory. As guests, we recognize that we benefit from living and working on their traditional homeland. We wish to pay our respects by acknowledging the ancestors, elders and relatives of the Ramaytush Community and by affirming their sovereign rights as First Peoples. As a department dedicated to promoting a diverse and equitable Arts and Culture environment in San Francisco, we are committed to supporting the traditional and contemporary evolution of the American Indian community.

      Civic Design Review Committee Recommendations (December 12, 2022, link to agenda)

      4. Motion to approve Bay Area Young Survivors (BAYS) Memorial Garden is landscape improvement memorial dedicated to young people with breast cancer in San Francisco and the Bay Area at Golden Gate Park. Project will include accessible seating area for the public to reflect and connect with the community. The total construction cost is approximately $330,000 funded through the support of donation contributions.     



      Visual Arts Committee Recommendations (September 21, 2022, link to agenda

      Action 

      5. Motion to approve Burnside Steps, a mosaic design by Aileen Barr and Colette Crutcher. The mosaic will be installed at the 59 Burnside Avenue cul-de-sac in District 8. The mosaic will be installed across 69 steps, 5 flights, 6 landings, the step’s dimensions average approximately 6.5 in. tall by 11 in. wide. The project is funded by private donations and a SFAC Special Projects Grant. The artwork will not become part of the Civic Art Collection.  

      6. Motion to amend Resolution Number 1003-22-181 to reflect a change in name of Contractor from Miguel Arzabe to Studio Miguel Arzabe LLC.  

      7. Motion for the Director of Cultural Affairs to approve a curator honorarium in the amount of $5000 to Art with Elders for their participation in the 2023 SFAC Galleries City Hall exhibition Art with Elders: The Power of Creativity and Community on view February 2-August 25, 2023.   

      8. Motion for the Director of Cultural Affairs to approve a curator honorarium in the amount of $5000 to Ann Jastrab for their participation in the spring 2023 SFAC Galleries Main Gallery exhibition (March 3-April 29, 2023).      

      9. Motion for the Director of Cultural Affairs to approve a curator honorarium in the amount of $5000 to Mark Harris for their participation in the spring 2023 SFAC Galleries Main Gallery exhibition (May 19-July 8, 2023).  

      10. Motion for the Director of Cultural Affairs to approve artist    honorarium in the amount of $5,500 to Mark Harris, $5,500 to Raymond L. Haywood, and $5,500 to Bryan Keith Thomas for the research and development of artwork for a SFAC Galleries Main Gallery exhibition (May 19-July 8, 2023). 

      11. Motion for the Director of Cultural Affairs to approve a curator honorarium in the amount of $5,000 to Marco Antonio Flores for their participation in Juana Alicia solo exhibition in the SFAC Galleries Main Gallery in summer 2023 (July 28-September 23, 2023).

      12. Motion to approve Design Development Phase deliverables (revised design) by Suzanne Husky for the San Francisco International Airport: Harvey Milk Terminal 1 – Meet and Greet Area.

      13. Motion to approve the six final designs by Peter and Maria Hoey for the 2023 Art on Market Street Kiosk Poster Series.

    1. Agenda items will normally be heard in order. Please note, that on occasion a special circumstance may necessitate that an agenda item be taken out of order. To ensure that an agenda item is not missed, it is advised to arrive at the beginning of the meeting. All agenda changes will be announced by the Chair at the top of the meeting. 

    2. Public comment will be taken before or during the Committee’s consideration of each agenda item. Each speaker will be allowed to speak for the time allotted by the Chair at the top of the meeting or up to three (3) minutes.  

    3. During General Public Comment, members of the public may address the Commissioners on matters that are within the Arts Commission’s jurisdiction and are not on the agenda.
