High school student programs

Not quite old enough to vote? You can still play a part in elections!

Poll Worker Service

If you will be at least 16 years old by the next Election Day, you can apply to serve as a poll worker. Poll worker service looks great on a college application or resume. You will also receive a $225 stipend. To learn more about serving as a poll worker, visit our poll worker page

Internship Program

If you attend a San Francisco high school, you can apply to serve as an election intern. Interns serve in either April or September, and receive a stipend for up to $550. We first train all the interns. After training, each intern creates and implements an outreach plan to help register people to vote. The application period for the fall internship is now closed. Check back in December for the spring internship.

Voter pre-registration

If you are 16 or 17 years old, you can complete a paper or online voter registration form now. On your 18th birthday, we will activate your voter record and send a confirmation letter. After your birthday, we will also start mailing you official election materials.
