Types of insurance coverage
Liability Insurance
Any type of insurance policy that protects a person or business from the risk that they may be sued and held legally liable for something like malpractice, injury or negligence.
Property Insurance
Insurance that pays the property owner or renter if there is damage or theft. Types of property insurance includes: homeowners, renters, flood, and earthquake insurance.
Workers’ Compensation (WC)
If you have employees, you must provide Workers' Compensation Insurance. This is a state-sponsored system for workers who are injured or disabled on the job.
Business Interruption Insurance
This can help a business when it loses income because of an event like a fire or natural disaster. You can add Business Interruption Insurance to your existing insurance package. You can't get it as a separate policy.
Auto Insurance
Get auto insurance to reduce costs if you are in a car accident.
Home Office Insurance
If you run your business from your home, check with your insurance company. Some homeowners' or renter' insurance doesn't cover business losses. If not, consider getting Home Office Insurance.
Directors and Officers Insurance
This policy can protect directors and officers of larger companies against legal liability and costs from certain issues. These issues can include: unlawful acts, bad investment decisions, failure to maintain property, releasing confidential information, hiring and firing decisions, conflicts of interest, gross negligence, and many other scenarios.
