SF City Hall in-person public services closed Oct 5 for Senator Feinstein Memorial

City Hall in-person services will be unavailable on Thursday, October 5 and will resume on Friday, October 6. The public can continue to access City services online, by phone, and at other City facilities.

San Francisco, CA— A memorial service to honor the late Senator Dianne Feinstein will be held on the front steps of City Hall tomorrow, October 5 (Thursday) at 1pm. Due to street closures and reduced access to the building for security purposes, City Hall will be closed for in-person services all day tomorrow. The City will maintain access to vital public services online, by phone, and at other City facilities. In-person services will resume in City Hall on October 6 (Friday). 

During the City Hall closure, the public is encouraged to access City Hall departments through the following methods

  • Clients can call (415) 554-4950 to ask questions or submit a request. Many of our services can be handled by mail or Dropbox and clients can go online to access the below services

Treasurer & Tax Collector

Visit the Help Center or call 3-1-1 for assistance. Taxpayers can continue to make online payments at sftreasurer.org. 

Office of the Assessor-Recorder

The Office will continue to receive and process all service requests that are submitted electronically via the website or by mail. Contact assessor@sfgov.org or 3-1-1 for further assistance. There are also answers to frequently asked questions on our website

Members of the public are welcome to watch the memorial service live stream.

City Hall Access 

All City Hall entrances will be closed with no access in or out of the building from 11am to 3pm tomorrow. The Van Ness Street entrance will be open to the public from 8am to 11am, and 3pm to 5pm, however in-person services will not be available in the building. 

Street Closures 

The street perimeter around City Hall will be closed to all vehicles and pedestrians tomorrow from 11am to 3pm. Please visit the SFMTA website for updated information. 

Public Transportation 

Buses along the closed streets are being rerouted. Please visit the SFMTA website or call 311 for updated information. 

Parking: Civic Center Garage closed 

The Civic Center Garage will be closed from October 4 (Wednesday) at 6pm through October 5 (Thursday) at 6pm.  

Departments
