Zae has been a public theologian for over ten years; he sees spiritual life as embodied in transformative systems and relationships. He has volunteered at a food pantry, founded an on-foot food program, and co-founded a separate food delivery project. In 2023, he earned an M.Div. from the Earlham School of Religion - a Quaker seminary. In 2024, he founded a laundry ministry in front of his (Quaker) church in the SoMa area. The Homelessness Oversight Commission appointed Zae to fill Seat 5 on the Shelter Monitoring Committee in September 2024.
