About Glen Park

Glen Park is San Francisco’s “hidden gem” neighborhood. Quaint, yet vibrant and quirky. 100% San Francisco, and totally unique. Fully connected, yet in a world of its own.

Glen Park is known as the “village” because it retains an old-world feel, harkening back to the months just after the famous 1906 earthquake which prompted a building frenzy to house the many thousands displaced after much of downtown San Francisco was leveled. The shops, cafes, restaurants, spas, salons and specialty food shops still occupy the charming buildings that were constructed at that time. Glen Park is the place to come if you want to experience a bit of old San Francisco.

The crown jewels of Glen Park are its PARKS! The wonderful Glen Canyon Park Recreation Center, tucked away at the foot of steep and wild Glen Canyon, offers a full slate of activities for the entire family, including baseball, tennis, basketball, pickleball and the city's first public climbing wall. The Canyon includes hiking trails for both beginners and experienced hikers. The Glen Park Greenway is a walking corridor that runs through the heart of the Glen Park neighborhood, connecting Glen Park’s transit hub and urban village to the many recreational opportunities throughout Glen Canyon Park. Both the Greenway and the Canyon are important scenic points on the San Francisco Cross Town Trail, a 17-mile path that connects Candlestick Point at San Francisco’s southeast Bayshore to Land’s End (with spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge). Ambitious hikers can complete the trail in one long day, but most take the trail in pieces over multiple days.
