Changes when applying for SF affordable housing due to COVID-19

In-person visits and events are cancelled, including open houses and info sessions. Lotteries will go on as scheduled.
March 18, 2020

To delay the spread of the novel coronavirus, we have changed how people apply for affordable housing in San Francisco. Our staff will be following the order to shelter in place.

All in-person visits and events are cancelled for now

You cannot come to the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development at 1 South Van Ness to ask for housing help. The office is closed to visitors.

All open houses and information sessions are temporarily cancelled. We will resume them at a later date.

Our phone lines are only accepting voicemails

Email sfhousinginfo@sfgov.org instead of calling, if you can.

You can still call our office to ask for help. You will have to leave a voicemail with a phone number to reach you. We will call you back in 1 business day if we can help.

All lotteries will go on as scheduled

Lotteries will be held online. Official lottery results will be posted on each DAHLIA listing.

We will only accept online applications on future listings

Paper applications received after March 16 will not be included in lotteries. We are not able to check our PO Box for applications.

If you need help filling out an online application, you can contact a housing counselor:

If you already sent in a paper application, email us at sfhousinginfo@sfgov.org to check your status.

You can also leave us a voicemail with a phone number to reach you. We will call you back.
