The San Francisco Juvenile Probation Department is collaborating with the Department of Children, Youth, and Their Families and Alternative Family Services (AFS) on a pilot project to reduce the use of secure detention and achieve better outcomes for justice involved youth.

Alternative Family Services is seeking resource parents (foster homes) willing to open their home to provide care to some of the most vulnerable and underserved youth.

Parents receive a monthly stipend to meet the youth's needs, continuous training, and 24-hour response and support.
