    The meeting of the Executive Committee of the San Francisco Arts Commission is scheduled for Friday, January 20, 2023.Executive Committee meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 1PM, and generally last for about two hours. If the scheduled date falls on a holiday, the meeting will usually be rescheduled to the following or preceding week.

    The January Executive meeting is scheduled to comply with budget transparency legislation which requires 1-2 public budget meetings before February 14. These two meetings must be held at least fifteen calendar days apart.

    The second public budget presentation will be during the February Full Commission meeting on February 6.

    For more information on the requirements of the budget transparency legislation, including noticing and timelines, please refer to Administrative Code Section 3.3.

      The San Francisco Arts Commission acknowledges that we are on the unceded ancestral homeland of the Ramaytush Ohlone who are the original inhabitants of the San Francisco Peninsula. As the indigenous stewards of this land and in accordance with their traditions, the Ramaytush Ohlone have never ceded, lost nor forgotten their responsibilities as the caretakers of this place, as well as for all peoples who reside in their traditional territory. As guests, we recognize that we benefit from living and working on their traditional homeland. We wish to pay our respects by acknowledging the ancestors, elders and relatives of the Ramaytush Community and by affirming their sovereign rights as First Peoples. As a department dedicated to promoting a diverse and equitable Arts and Culture environment in San Francisco, we are committed to supporting the traditional and contemporary evolution of the American Indian community.

    5. Amendment to SF Symphony Contract

      Discussion and Possible Action

      Discussion and possible motion to amend contract ID #1000022139 to the San Francisco Symphony (authorized by Resolution No. 0607-21-143 on June 7, 2021) to increase the contract by $248,545 and to authorize the Director of Cultural Affairs to enter into a contract not to exceed $7,787,891 at this time pursuant to Section 16.106(1) of the City Charter, which states that the Arts Commission is required to allocate funds from the annual ad valorum tax as allocated under the annual Budget and Appropriation Ordinance to support a municipal symphony.

    1. Agenda items will normally be heard in order. Please note, that on occasion a special circumstance may necessitate that an agenda item be taken out of order. To ensure that an agenda item is not missed, it is advised to arrive at the beginning of the meeting. All agenda changes will be announced by the Chair at the top of the meeting. 

    2. Public comment will be taken before or during the Committee’s consideration of each agenda item. Each speaker will be allowed to speak for the time allotted by the Chair at the top of the meeting or up to three (3) minutes.  

    3. During General Public Comment, members of the public may address the Commissioners on matters that are within the Arts Commission’s jurisdiction and are not on the agenda. 

    4. Any person speaking during a public comment period may supply a brief written summary of their comments, which shall, if no more than 150 words, be included in the official file. Written comments pertaining to this meeting should be submitted to art-info@sfgov.org

    Per the American Disabilities Act and the Language Access Ordinance, Chinese, Spanish, and/or American Sign Language interpreters will be available upon request. Additionally, every effort will be made to provide a sound enhancement system, meeting materials in alternative formats, and/or a reader. Minutes may be translated after they have been adopted by the Commission. The hearing room is wheelchair accessible.
