    Overview

    This is the regular in-person monthly public meeting of the Sheriff's Department Oversight Board. Members of the Sheriff’s Department Oversight Board will attend this meeting in-person. Members of the public are invited to observe the meeting in-person. Except for persons with disabilities requiring reasonable accommodation, only members of the public attending the meeting in person will have an opportunity to provide public comment.

    Agenda

    1. Inspector General Report (Informational)

      Inspector General Terry Wiley will give a report on Q1 for the Office of the Inspector General.

    2. San Francisco Sheriff's Office (SFSO) Presentation (Informational)

      Board member and Deputy Michael Nguyen will present on his recent completion of Field Training Officer (FTO) certification.
       

      Captain Jamala Sanford and Chief Rich Jue will present on recruitment, academy process, and ongoing training; working conditions and deputy safety; resources for the physical and mental wellbeing of sworn law enforcement; and the junior deputy program.

    3. Department of Police Accountability (DPA) Presentation (Informational)

      Marshall Khine, Chief Attorney, will present on the importance of separate criminal and administrative investigations and the safeguards to ensure that one investigation does not compromise the other.

    4. Amendment to SDOB Rules of Order 1.14 (Discussion and Possible Action)

      Discussion to Amend Rules of Order 1.14 regarding the agenda and requests for agenda items. 

      Vote on discussion shall be continued to the next meeting.

      The public is welcome to address the Board regarding items that did not appear on this afternoon's agenda but are within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Board. Speakers shall address the Board as a whole and not to individual Board members, Department, or SFSO personnel.

    Government's duty is to serve the public, reaching its decisions in full view of the public. Commissions, boards, councils, and other agencies of the City and County exist to conduct the people's business. This ordinance assures that deliberations are conducted before the people and that City operations are open to the people's review.     Per the Language Access Ordinance (Chapter 91 of the San Francisco Administrative Code), Chinese, Spanish, and or Filipino (Tagalog) interpreters will be available upon request. Meeting Minutes may be translated if requested after they have been adopted by the Commission. Assistance in additional languages may be honored whenever possible. Late requests will be honored if possible.

    Sheriff's Department Oversight Board hearings are held in Room 400 at City Hall, 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place in San Francisco. City Hall is accessible to persons using wheelchairs and other assistive mobility devices. Ramps are available at the Grove, Van Ness and McAllister entrances. The closest accessible BART station is Civic Center Station. For information about SFMTA service, please call 311.
    Assistive listening devices, real-time captioning, American Sign Language interpreters, readers, large print agendas, or other accommodations are available upon request.
