Mayor Lurie Appoints Alfonso Felder to SFMTA Board
Veteran Operations Leader Brings Extensive Experience in Urban Development and Transportation
SAN FRANCISCO – Mayor Daniel Lurie today appointed Alfonso Felder, an operational expert with significant transportation and urban development planning experience, to the San Francisco Metropolitan Transportation Agency (SFMTA) Board of Directors. Felder currently serves as chief operations and experience officer for the San Francisco Giants.
His appointment marks a significant step forward in the SFMTA’s ongoing work to enhance transportation planning, operations, and community engagement across the Bay Area. And it will strengthen the SFMTA’s ability to address pressing transportation challenges and ensure that policies are implemented with an emphasis on innovation, sustainability, and fairness.
“Alfonso Felder’s exceptional leadership and deep experience in operations and community collaboration will be instrumental as we continue to address the Bay Area’s transportation needs. He will be an asset to the SFMTA,” said Mayor Lurie. “I am confident he will help create a more sustainable, efficient, and accessible transportation system for all residents.”

Felder’s has held a range of positions over his nearly three-decade tenure with the San Francisco Giants, including overseeing Oracle Park’s daily operations, managing capital improvement projects, and planning transportation systems for large-scale events. Felder also played a key role in the development of the Giants’ Mission Rock project and is instrumental in the continued success of the team’s spring training operations in Scottsdale, Arizona.
A San Francisco native, Felder earned a bachelor’s degree in urban studies from Harvard University. He has a long-standing track record of civic involvement, including founding the San Francisco Neighborhood Theater Foundation and working with multiple community organizations.
