What is a stabilization unit?
A stabilization unit provides immediate, voluntary medical care for people with urgent mental health needs who do not need a medical hospital.
- It is designed to serve people in the immediate community.
- It will be staffed by medical professionals who provide treatment.
- With 16 beds, the stabilization unit will serve ~25 people per day.
- It will receive police and street team drops off and paramedic emergency transport.
- Patients transported directly to the stabilization unit will enter directly and not linger on the street.
- Upon discharge, stabilization unit staff will coordinate patient referral and transportation to their next destination.
What is happening with the Hyde Street Building?
The building on Hyde Street will have administrative offices for 20 DPH staff members.
