DreamSF Fellowship Celebrates 10th Anniversary
The DreamSF Fellowship program recently celebrated a decade’s worth of impact on immigrant youth in San Francisco. Over the last 10 years, DreamSF has placed 180 fellows in local immigrant-serving, community-based organizations. Fellows gain hands-on experience in direct services, advocacy, and immigration law careers, and receive professional mentorship, leadership development, and monthly scholarship stipends.
DreamSF is one of the only local government-operated programs in the country that is a catalyst for personal growth, career development, and mentorship opportunities for aspiring professionals, regardless of their immigration status. The program is operated by the Office of Civic Engagement & Immigrant Affairs (OCEIA), with support from the Department of Children, Youth and Their Families (DCYF). Learn more about this incredible program in the DreamSF Impact Report.

Draft 2025 Hazards and Climate Resilience Plan Now Available
San Francisco’s Draft 2025 Hazards and Climate Resilience Plan (HCR) is an action plan for building a safer and more resilient future in San Francisco by reducing the impacts of hazards such as earthquakes, landslides, and pandemics. The HCR also addresses the ways in which hazards like flooding, extreme heat, and wildfire smoke are becoming more frequent and severe due to climate change. The HCR serves as San Francisco’s Hazard Mitigation Plan, which is required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to be eligible for critical funding sources.
The HCR is now available here for public comment and includes goals, objectives, and actions to increase the resilience of San Francisco’s buildings, infrastructure, and communities. Please submit your feedback to resilience@sfgov.org by September 30, 2024. After the public comment period, the Office of Resilience and Capital Planning will submit a Final Draft to FEMA for review.

Financial Roadmap for Newcomers
The Office of Financial Empowerment (OFE) and the Office of Civic Engagement and Immigrant Affairs (OCEIA) just launched a new tool to help newcomers to the City to get on the path towards financial inclusion and mobility. The Financial Inclusion for Newcomer Roadmap supports immigrants with the initial steps in navigating a new financial system, such as opening a bank account, savings account, applying for an ITIN, and establishing credit. The Office of Financial Empowerment also provides free financial counseling and opens college savings accounts for students in K-12 through the Kindergarten to College program. These programs are designed to support San Franciscans regardless of immigration status.
