5 Board of Supervisors Appointed Seats Vacant on the Reentry Council
We're excited to announce amazing opportunities for formerly incarcerated individuals. The City & County of San Francisco's Reentry Council has five vacant seats. Among these, four seats are reserved for formerly incarcerated individuals, while the fifth seat is for a representative from an organization that offers pretrial services, including alternative sentencing, in San Francisco. Please see below to learn more about these opportunities.
Applications are Due by Friday, May 10, 2024 at 5pm
The following seats are available for formerly incarcerated people:
Seat 1:
- Must be formerly incarcerated in the San Francisco County Jail, a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation facility, and/or a United States Federal Bureau of Prisons facility; and also self-identify as a survivor of violence or crime.
Seat 2:
- Must be formerly incarcerated in the San Francisco County Jail, a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation facility, and/or a United States Federal Bureau of Prisons facility; and also have expertise in providing services to individuals exiting the criminal justice system.
Seat 3:
- Must be formerly incarcerated in the San Francisco County Jail, a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation facility, and/or a United States Federal Bureau of Prisons facility; and also have been released from custody within two years of his/her appointment.
Seat 4:
- Must be formerly incarcerated in the San Francisco County Jail, a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation facility, and/or a United States Federal Bureau of Prisons facility; and also have served multiple terms of incarceration.

The following seat is for an organization providing pretrial services in San Francisco:
Seat 6:
- Must be a representative of an entity or agency primarily responsible for administering pretrial services involving alternatives to incarceration in San Francisco.

Meetings
Meeting Schedule
Full Reentry Council: Meets quarterly at 10am on the 3rd Thursday (January, April, July, October)
Direct Action Subcommittee: Meets on the 1st Thursday of even months at 1:00pm
Legislation, Policy, & Practices Subcommittee: Meets on the 4th Wednesday, every other month at 2:30pm
Women 1st Subcommittee: Meets on the 1st Monday, even Months at 12:00pm

Anyone can attend and speak at Full Reentry Council meetings or Subcommittee meetings.

The purpose of the Reentry Council of the City & County of San Francisco is to coordinate local efforts to support adults exiting San Francisco County Jail, San Francisco juvenile justice out-of-home placements, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation facilities, and the United States Federal Bureau of Prison facilities. The Council coordinates information sharing, planning, and engagement among all interested private and public stakeholders to the extent permissible under federal and state law.
