      The San Francisco Arts Commission acknowledges that we are on the unceded ancestral homeland of the Ramaytush Ohlone who are the original inhabitants of the San Francisco Peninsula. As the indigenous stewards of this land and in accordance with their traditions, the Ramaytush Ohlone have never ceded, lost nor forgotten their responsibilities as the caretakers of this place, as well as for all peoples who reside in their traditional territory. As guests, we recognize that we benefit from living and working on their traditional homeland. We wish to pay our respects by acknowledging the ancestors, elders and relatives of the Ramaytush Community and by affirming their sovereign rights as First Peoples. As a department dedicated to promoting a diverse and equitable Arts and Culture environment in San Francisco, we are committed to supporting the traditional and contemporary evolution of the American Indian community.

        1. Citywide Youth Arts Program – San Francisco Youth Theatre, $350,000 over three years to support the design and implementation of socially responsive art and creative exploration learning experiences for youth ages 0 to 24 years old. 
           
        2. Citywide Youth Arts Program – Youth Art Exchange (Fiscal Sponsor: Tides Center), $350,000 over three years to support the design and implementation of socially responsive art and creative exploration learning experiences for youth ages 0 to 24 years old. 
           
        3. Citywide Arts Service Organizations – Independent Arts & Media, $50,000 over one year to support providing services that may include the following: fiscal sponsorship services; grant writing; legal assistance; capacity building; technical assistance; training and paid internships; education and community convenings. 
           
        4. Citywide Arts Service Organizations – Intersection for the Arts, $50,000 over one year to support providing services that may include the following: fiscal sponsorship services; grant writing; legal assistance; capacity building; technical assistance; training and paid internships; education and community convenings.

      10. Motion to approve "Beloved Garden," a mural design by Kseniya Makarova. The mural will be installed on the parklet in front of Beloved Café at 3338 24th St. in District 9. The mural measures approximately 3.6 ft. tall by 66.25 ft. wide. The artwork is funded by a Shared Spaces Arts and Culture Grant and will not become part of the Civic Art Collection. 
         
         
      11. Motion to approve "Alicia McCarthy Parklet Mural at La Mediterranee Castro," a mural design by Alicia McCarthy. The mural will be installed on the parklet in front of La Mediterrannee restaurant at 288 Noe Street in District 8. The mural measures approximately 512 square feet. The artwork is funded by a Shared Spaces Arts and Culture Grant and will not become part of the Civic Art Collection. 
         
      12. Motion to approve "Adey-Abeba," a mural design by Nathaniel J. Bice. The mural will be installed on two parklets in front of House of Tadu, 1130 4th Street in District 6. The murals will be painted on the interior and exterior of two parklets measuring approximately 6 ft. 6 in. tall by 16 ft. wide and 6 ft. 6 in. tall by 14 ft. wide. The artwork is funded by a Shared Spaces Arts and Culture Grant and will not become part of the Civic Art Collection. 
         
      13. Motion to approve "Foghorn Showcase," a mural design by Chris Marvelle. The mural will be installed on the parklet in front of Foghorn Taproom at 450 Balboa St. in District 1. The mural measures approximately 36 in. tall by 266 in. wide. The artwork is funded by a Shared Spaces Arts and Culture Grant and will not become part of the Civic Art Collection. 
         
      14. Motion to approve "Urban Wilderness: San Francisco’s Native Ecosystem," a mural design by Mike Ritch. The mural will be installed on the retaining wall and Head Street stairs at 218 Head Street and Alemany in District 7. The mural measures approximately 10 ft tall by 175 ft. wide. The Merced Extension Triangle Neighborhood Association will be responsible for maintenance. The artwork is funded by a District 7 Participatory Budget Grant and will not become part of the Civic Art Collection.  
         
      15. Motion to approve "Mural on Minnesota Street," a mural design by Josué Rojas and Matley Hurd. The temporary mural will be installed on Minnesota Street between 20th and 22nd Streets in District 10 and will be removed when the upcoming city water main replacement occurs (1-2 years). The mural measures approximately 60 ft. long by 25 ft. wide. The artwork is funded by a Community Challenge Grant and will not become part of the Civic Art Collection.  
         
      16. Motion to approve "The Dreamers of Dreams," a mural design by Nico Berry. The mural will be installed on the Laguna Honda Hospital retaining wall on Woodside Avenue between Vasquez Avenue and Balceta Avenue in District 7. The mural measures approximately 11 ft. high by 53 ft. wide. Laguna Honda Hospital will be responsible for maintenance of the mural. The artwork is funded by a District 7 Participatory Budget Grant and will not become part of the Civic Art Collection. 
          
      17. Motion to retroactively approve and accept into the Civic Art Collection 2021.46, "Convergence: Commute Patterns," 2022, glass, spanning the roof deck and façade of the elevator entrance into the Central Subway Union Square/Market Street Station in the southeast corner of Union Square by Hughen/Starkweather. The artwork was approved as installed under Res. No. 0206-23-025. 
         
      18. Motion to retroactively approve and accept into the Civic Art Collection 2020.15, "Microcosmic," 2019, stainless steel, a wind activated kinetic sculpture with 31 rotation points installed on the top of a 40 foot pole, by Moto Ohtake. The artwork is installed on the Central Subway platform at 4th and Brannan Streets. The artwork was approved as installed under Res. No. 1102-20-190. 
         
      19. Motion to retroactively approve and accept into the Civic Art Collection 2021.38, "Silent Stream," 2021, stainless steel, a suspended sculpture approximately 250 ft. long and 4-8 ft. wide, by Werner Klotz and Jim Campbell. The artwork is suspended from the platform ceiling at the Central Subway Union Square/Market Street Station. The artwork was approved as installed under Res. No. 0503-21-119. 
         
         
      20. Motion to retroactively approve and accept into the Civic Art Collection 2021.39, "Lucy in the Sky," 2021, 540 10 in. by 10 in. LED light panels, a suspended light sculpture approximately 668 ft. long and 40 ft. wide, by Erwin Redl. The artwork is suspended from the concourse level ceiling at the Central Subway Union Square/Market Street Station. The artwork was approved as installed under Res. No. 0503-21-120. 
         
      21. Motion to retroactively approve and accept into the Civic Art Collection 2018.74, "K5," 2018, Oil on canvas stretched on wood, H12 ¼ in. by W10 in. by Cornelia Schulz. The artwork was approved as purchased under Res. No. 1001-18-324 for the San Francisco International Airport.   
         
      22. Motion to retroactively approve and accept into the Civic Art Collection 2018.75, "K4," 2018, Oil on canvas stretched on wood, H12 ¼ in. by W9 ¼ in. by Cornelia Schulz. The artwork was approved as purchased under Res. No. 1001-18-324 for the San Francisco International Airport. 
         
      23. Motion to retroactively approve and accept into the Civic Art Collection 2018.76, "K1," 2018, Oil on canvas stretched on wood, H12 ½ in. by W9 ¼ in. by Cornelia Schulz. The artwork was approved as purchased under Res. No. 1001-18-324 for the San Francisco International Airport. 
         
      24. Motion to retroactively approve and accept into the Civic Art Collection 2022.104, "K2," 2018, Oil on canvas stretched on wood, H12 5/8 in. by W9 ½ in. by Cornelia Schulz. The artwork was approved as purchased under Res. No. 0404-22-081 for the San Francisco International Airport. 
         
      25. Motion to retroactively approve and accept into the Civic Art Collection 2022.105, "K6," 2018, Oil on canvas stretched on wood, H13 ¼ in. by W10 in. by Cornelia Schulz. The artwork was approved as purchased under Res. No. 0404-22-081 for the San Francisco International Airport. 
         
      26. Motion to retroactively approve and accept into the Civic Art Collection 2008.15, "Language of the Birds," 2008, 23 polycarbonate sculpted books with LED lights suspended by steel wires and the design for the pavement installation below the sculpture. The artwork is installed at the Northwest corner of Columbus and Broadway. The artwork was approved as installed under Res. No. 0309-09-069. 
         
      27.  Motion to approve as installed the completed artwork titled "Portrait of a Phenomenal Woman," 2024, by Lava Thomas (Lava Thomas Studio) for the San Francisco Public Library—Main Branch. The artwork, which is comprised of bronze and a basalt stone base, is installed on the Library’s main entrance plaza on Larkin Street and measures 109 in. x 80 in. x 30 in.

      28. Motion to approve artist team Twin Walls Mural Company LLC and proposal "Muni in Motion" for the Potrero Yard Modernization Project 17th Street Bus Ramp integrated glass artwork opportunity, as recommended by the artist review panel. 
          
      29. Motion to authorize the Director of Cultural Affairs to enter into a contract with Twin Walls Mural Company LLC for an amount not to exceed $70,000 for the design and consultation during fabrication and installation of an integrated glass artwork for the Potrero Yard Modernization Project 17th Street Bus Ramp.  
         
      30. Motion to approve artist Josué Gamaliel Rojas and proposal "A Transfer to Tomorrow" for the Potrero Yard Modernization Project Mariposa Stairwell integrated glass artwork opportunity, as recommended by the artist review panel. 
          
      31. Motion to authorize the Director of Cultural Affairs to enter into a contract with Josué Gamaliel Rojas for an amount not to exceed $40,000 for the design and consultation during fabrication and installation of an integrated glass artwork for the Potrero Yard Modernization Project Mariposa Street Stairwell.

    1. Agenda items will normally be heard in order. Please note, that on occasion a special circumstance may necessitate that an agenda item be taken out of order. To ensure that an agenda item is not missed, it is advised to arrive at the beginning of the meeting. All agenda changes will be announced by the Chair at the top of the meeting. 

    2. Public comment will be taken before or during the Committee’s consideration of each agenda item. Each speaker will be allowed to speak for the time allotted by the Chair at the top of the meeting or up to three (3) minutes.  

    3. During General Public Comment, members of the public may address the Commissioners on matters that are within the Arts Commission’s jurisdiction and are not on the agenda. 

    4. Any person speaking during a public comment period may supply a brief written summary of their comments, which shall, if no more than 150 words, be included in the official file. Written comments pertaining to this meeting should be submitted to art-info@sfgov.org

    5. Persons attending the meeting and those unable to attend may submit written comments regarding the subject of the meeting. Such comments will be made part of the official public record and will be brought to the attention of the committee. Written comments should be submitted to Arts Commission staff via email to art-info@sfgov.org by 5:00 p.m. before the date of the meeting. Please note that names and addresses included in these submittals will become part of the public record. Submittals may be made anonymously.     The ringing of and use of cell phones, pagers, and similar sound-producing electronic devices are prohibited at this meeting, except as necessary to participate remotely. The Chair may order the exclusion from participation of any person responsible for improper disruptions to this remote meeting.

    Sensitivity to chemical-based products

    In order to assist the City’s efforts to accommodate persons with severe allergies, environmental illnesses, multiple chemical sensitivity, or related disabilities, attendees at public meetings are reminded that other attendees may be sensitive to various chemical-based products.     Wheelchair-accessible entrances

    Wheelchair-accessible entrances

    Wheelchair-accessible entrances are located on Van Ness Avenue and Grove Street.  Please note the wheelchair lift at the Goodlett Place/Polk Street is temporarily not available.  After multiple repairs that were followed by additional breakdowns, the wheelchair lift at the Goodlett/Polk entrance is being replaced for improved operation and reliability.  We anticipate having a functioning lift after the completion of construction in May 2025.  There are elevators and accessible restrooms located on every floor.
