The San Francisco Department of Public Health, Environmental Health Branch, Food Safety Program, acknowledges that, for those of you who were affected by the recent PG&E power outage, there will be a multitude of items on your checklist before you are reopening your food facility. In supporting you, we want to do our part and remind you that the most critical part of retail food safety is what you do after your power has been restored. Our staff inspect restaurants to make sure that the food is safe to eat, regulate businesses that use hazardous materials, respond to concerns about pests, mold and lead in housing, test natural swimming areas to ensure safe levels of bacteria, certify farmers' markets, and other programs to make sure our communities are safe and healthy places to live.
