CCHP Dental Screening For children ages 0 to 5 What it is: A dental screening is a simple visual check of the mouth and teeth. It does not use sharp instruments or take the place of an exam at a dental office. How it's done: We check the teeth with a light and mouth mirror. If we have permission, we brush a sticky, fluoride varnish on the child's teeth. This protects them from cavities and will come off later. We sing songs, use puppets, and give stickers to make it fun for the children. Parents/guardians receive a letter with the screening results. If we find dental problems, CCHP can help connect families to the needed dental care. Related Dental-Oral Health Find dentists in San Francisco County and California.
