Appeal your film rebate
You can appeal the ineligibility of your project or the rebate amount.
What to know
Deadline
You must send in your appeal within 30 days of receiving the rebate or the notice that your project was ineligible.
Rebate limit
The Scene in San Francisco program can only refund fees up to $600,000.
What to do
1. Write a letter to the Controller’s office
Include:
- Your mailing or email address
- Statement of why you are appealing
- Proof that support your appeal
2. Send in the letter and other production financial documents
Include:
- Your letter
- Proof that supports your appeal, including receipts or other evidence of qualified production costs

You can also email the documents to film@sfgov.org and we will forward it to the Controller’s Office.
