The annual Fourth of July Fireworks will take place along SF's incredible northern waterfront. Fireworks will be set off from from a barge off Pier 39 and from the Municipal Pier, Aquatic Park, beginning at 9:30 pm.

Fireworks are best viewed from the Hyde Street Harbor and Fisherman's Wharf area. Other public areas to watch from include PIER 39 and the Pier 43 walkway.

Tips for the best fireworks show experience

Tips from the Port of San Francisco:

  • Make reservations early. Special cruises and waterfront restaurants may have limited or no walk-in options on popular holidays.
  • Plan to arrive early to get your preferred viewing spot.
  • Take public transit. The waterfront will get crowded closer to the show. See Muni extra service updates and BART updates for July 4.
  • Dress in layers. Temperatures at the waterfront can drop quickly after sunset and often get windy or foggy along the water.

Stay healthy while watching the fireworks

You can watch the fireworks from outside, at the waterfront.

Everyone who is eligible is urged to get vaccinated as soon as they can, including boosters. No insurance is required. To learn more, including where to get vaccinated, visit sf.gov/GetVaccinated or call 311.

You can wear a mask for added protection, and get tested before and after attending the show.

We encourage everyone to sign up for CA Notify as an added layer of protection for themselves and the community to receive alerts when they have been in close contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19. Visit canotify.ca.gov to learn more.

Enjoy the show, but leave fireworks to the professionals
