Drug overdoses are a public health crisis nationally and in San Francisco. In 2023, the San Francisco Office of the Chief Medical Examiner reported that 810 people died from an unintentional drug overdose in San Francisco. The San Francisco Department of Public Health tracks trends in drug overdoses and treatment to guide our response and measure our progress. The data come from several sources and are updated at different times.
