Deputy Director, El/La Para Trans Latinas Trans Advisory Committee

Sofía is an indigenous transgender woman who, aside from speaking Spanish and English, also speaks Nahuatl. She was born in San Gabriel Chilac, in the state of Puebla, México. In 2001, Sofía moved to the state of North Carolina, which then brought her to San Francisco seeking asylum. Since 2018, she has been working with the San Francisco LGBTQ+ community as a Data Specialist with El/La Para TransLatinas. Sofía has climbed the ranks within the organization and now serves as El/La’s first Deputy Director.
