Rodrigo Durán

Rodrigo Ehecatl Durán is the son of Mexican immigrants, a native San Franciscan, and an advocate for BIPOC cultural preservation. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from UC San Diego in Communications and a Master’s Degree from San Francisco State University in Public Administration, with an emphasis in Nonprofit Management. As the Executive Director of Carnaval San Francisco – the largest and longest running multicultural celebration in California – Rodrigo creates safe and vibrant spaces to cultivate and celebrate the Latinx, Caribbean, and African Diaspora cultures and languages in San Francisco.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, his role evolved to include the management of the Mission Food Hub’s operations, which provided 7,000 families with culturally relevant groceries every week. From 2018 to 2021, he served as the Calle 24 Latino Cultural District Marketing Director, where he was instrumental in supporting, promoting and enhancing local businesses, art institutions and artists, nonprofit organizations and cultural events. Since 2022, Rodrigo has served as a KQED Community Advisory Panel member to support, give feedback and engage KQED staff and board in community building.
