Laura Vollmer, MPH, is a Nutritionist at the USDA’s Food & Nutrition Service, Western Regional Office, focused on school meals. She most recently served as Community Nutrition and Health Advisor at the University of California Cooperative Extension serving San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties, where she provided oversight to two federally funded nutrition education programs and conducted locally relevant evaluation and research work, primarily focused on food and nutrition security. Laura has long pursued an interest in food and nutrition: from farming livestock at the Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture in Westchester county, NY, to teaching at an elementary school garden program in Mountain View, CA to researching the impact of community nutrition and physical activity on public health at UC’s Nutrition Policy Institute, Laura has diverse experience working towards a more equitable food system. Laura is a registered dietitian and holds a Masters in Public Health in Nutrition from the University of California, Berkeley and a BA in English from Wesleyan University.
