J.R. Eppler
J.R. Eppler is an attorney providing general outside counsel and transactional legal services to small and medium-sized businesses and individuals through his corporate law office, Eppler Legal, Inc. A native of Oklahoma City, J.R. moved to California to attend Stanford University, where he earned a B.A. in economics and history. Following a year of teaching middle school math in the Bay Area, J.R. moved to Los Angeles and completed the joint degree program at the UCLA School of Law and UCLA/Anderson School of Management. J.R. Eppler is an attorney providing general outside counsel and transactional legal services to small and medium-sized businesses and individuals through his corporate law office, Eppler Legal, Inc. A native of Oklahoma City, J.R. moved to California to attend Stanford University, where he earned a B.A. in economics and history. Following a year of teaching middle school math in the Bay Area, J.R. moved to Los Angeles and completed the joint degree program at the UCLA School of Law and UCLA/Anderson School of Management. He then promptly moved to San Francisco and began working as an associate attorney at Heller Ehrman. J.R. also worked at Manatt, Phelps and Phillips, and Crowell & Moring before opening his own practice. He has lived in Potrero Hill since 2010 with his wife, a public librarian, and now his son, a proud student with SFUSD. J.R. serves as President of the Potrero Boosters Neighborhood Association and on the boards of several community groups. It has been reported that he “loves a good working group,” particularly when it involves transit. J.R. also loves cooking, college football, and boxing, among other things. Prior to his appointment to the Board of Appeals on September 27, 2022, by the Board of Supervisors President Shamann Walton, J.R. served on the Building Inspection Commission. His term will expire on July 1, 2026.
