Dr. Shokooh Miry is a psychologist in practice in San Francisco, California. She serves the City and County of San Francisco as President of the SF Commission on the Status of Women.

Dr. Miry attended UC Berkeley and Stanford University. She was honored to complete her training at the Stanford Hospital Department of Psychiatry. In 2008, she completed a fellowship in medical psychology at Duke University Medical Center. In 2010, she completed a post- doctoral fellowship at Stanford Hospital. While in graduate school, she worked at Planned Parenthood with pregnant and at-risk teen girls

While in graduate school, she worked at Planned Parenthood with pregnant and at-risk teen girls, coordinated clinical services at a large rape crisis center, and completed additional training in trauma treatment at the VA National Center for PTSD.

In her role as San Francisco Commissioner on the Status of Women, Dr. Miry helps oversee vital work in advancing women’s human rights, including conducting gender analysis of City departments, identifying areas of gender inequity, and managing a flagship grants program on the prevention and treatment of violence against women—funding 24 different community organizations addressing domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

In addition to serving on the San Francisco Commission on the Status of Women, Dr. Miry has served on the board of directors of high-impact, non-profit organizations. In her board and volunteer service, Dr. Miry has focused on gender equity, creating opportunities for girls and women in leadership, fundraising, and board governance.

Dr. Miry is a proud immigrant who moved from Iran to San Francisco at the age of one with her parents.
