Commissioner Fujii is a recognized Asian Pacific American community leader in San Francisco, entrepreneur, teacher and best-selling author. Although she is a third-generation San Franciscan, she was raised by her grandmother in Chinatown, providing her an insider’s perspective on growing up as a Chinese immigrant. Applying the teaching skills she developed as a high school teacher in Contra Costa County, she joined the faculty of Asian Pacific American Women’s Leadership Institute, a national mentoring and fellowship program. Applying the teaching skills she developed as a high school teacher in Contra Costa County, she joined the faculty of Asian Pacific American Women’s Leadership Institute, a national mentoring and fellowship program. She also heads the international image and style school, Donna Fujii Institute, based in San Francisco and Tokyo. She also taught at San Francisco City College and San Mateo Community College. Her best-selling guidebook and college text on beauty and image, Color With Style, has been published in four language editions. She is the recipient of the Immie Award from the Association of Image Consultants International. Donna earned a BA degree and teaching credential from California State University at San Francisco.
