Carrie Bishop
Carrie Bishop was appointed as San Francisco’s first Chief Digital Services Officer in 2017. Carrie stepped down in March of 2022.
Responsible for implementing the City’s Digital Services Strategy, Carrie built the team from just 3 people to around 50 designers, engineers, and product managers.
Carrie’s career started at the London Borough of Barnet, a municipality in London. Responsible for implementing large IT projects, Carrie led efforts to put mobile devices in the hands of social workers and others working directly with residents.
Fascinated by the potential of technology to transform

Fascinated by the potential of technology to transform public services, Carrie went on to be the director and co-owner of FutureGov, a company working with local government to redesign public services. FutureGov was sold in 2019.
Carrie’s philosophy is always to put residents’ needs first in the design of public services, and use technology to make services easy to use, accessible, and modern.
