Mentor Protégé Program

The Contract Monitoring Division (“CMD”) oversees and facilitates Mentor Protégé Programs (MPP). Experienced mentors are paired with emerging Micro-LBEs in order to foster business development and enhance the capabilities of the protégés. Being part of the Mentor Protege Program is to be part of a lasting legacy of economic development and meaningful partnerships. 

CMD administers two Mentor Protégé Programs – CMD MPP and TIDA MPP. 

Micro-LBEs are paired with prime contractors that will provide training, networking, and mentoring opportunities with the goal to improve the Micro-LBE participants’ ability to compete effectively for City contracts.

Mentors are eligible to earn benefits on San Francisco procurements through rating bonuses and exemption from the good faith requirement. 

The TIDA MPP Program is a new program that launched in 2025.

In their commitment to support San Francisco LBEs, the Treasure Island Development Authority (“TIDA”) has engaged CMD to implement a mentor-protege program that centers development and contracting on Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Island.
