Where to get training as an EMT or paramedic in San Francisco

Find out where to get training for your initial or renewal certification or accreditation, or to further your knowledge within EMS.

Training we accept

In San Francisco, we only accept continuing education credits approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Prehospital Continuing Education (CAPCE).

We also accept Basic Life Support Provider CPR cards from:

  • Red Cross
  • American Heart Association
  • American Safety and Health Institute

CPR and AED training

These organizations offer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) training. You can use these to renew your certification:

Look up California approved EMS continuing education training programs in San Francisco and around the state.

If you’re obtaining continuing education credits from an outside source (for example: outside of CA, via an online platform, or training from the military) and you are unsure if they are approved, you can visit Commission on Accreditation for Pre-hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE). Go to “Find Course” to see if the provider is approved.
