Find out about services for humanitarian parolees
On April 21, 2022, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the establishment of Uniting for Ukraine (U4U), a program that establishes a pathway for Ukrainian citizens with a sponsor to enter the US for temporary stay. In October 2022 a similar opportunity was provided for Venezuelans, and in January 2023 DHS implemented a program for temporary stay in the US for Haitians, Cubans, and Nicaraguans.
Participants, or “humanitarian parolees”, are required to meet specific health requirements upon arrival, including completion of an attestation of TB screening with an interferon-gamma-release assay (IGRA) for humanitarian parolees ≥ 2 years of age within 90 days of US entry. The SFDPH TB Clinic is open for TB screening for any humanitarian parolees with a San Francisco address. Because humanitarian parolees have not been screened for TB overseas prior to US entry, our comprehensive TB screening includes symptom review, IGRA testing and chest X-ray. Chest X-ray is a very sensitive test for TB, and can help us identify TB early, initiate treatment quickly and prevent transmission to family, friends and other contacts.
U4U humanitarian parolees may also be eligible for state and federal benefits and should visit the SFDPH Newcomers Health Program for more details.

Tuesday: 8:30am – 12:30pm
Wednesday: 8:30am – 12:30pm
Thursday: No Testing
Friday: No Testing
All TB screening is free-of-charge, and the results are kept strictly confidential and are not shared with anyone without permission.
