Shane Thomas comes to JPD from 24 years of service at the Alameda County Probation Department, where she was recently promoted to Division Director of Adult Field Services. Ms. Thomas has spent many years working with youth on probation and in detention. For the last eight years, Ms. Thomas worked at Alameda's Camp Sweeney, including serving as Acting Superintendent, and, most recently, as Unit Supervisor of both Camp Sweeney and Alameda's Secure Track Unit, which she was instrumental in designing and implementing.
A a Bay Area native, Ms. Thomas is deeply rooted in community. For the last two years she has volunteered with Oakland's TAY Career & Technical Education HUB, an all-inclusive vision to reduce homelessness and wrap youth with services.
As Director of Juvenile Facilities, Ms. Thomas will oversee San Francisco Juvenile Hall, including the Secure Youth Treatment Facility.
