On October 8th, the SF Entertainment Commission was recognized at The White House for its work to promote overdose prevention at nightlife spaces in partnership with SF Dept. of Public Health and the drag community. The EC’s Dylan Rice participated in a panel discussion on how different entertainment sectors are raising awareness about overdose risks from fentanyl and other opioids, and ensuring access to life-saving naloxone and training. Organized by the Office of National Drug Control Policy, the “White House Challenge to Save Lives from Overdose” Event convened leaders from different sectors and communities around the country that are committed to address the opioid overdose crisis. Joining Rice on the panel were representatives from Major League Baseball, Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington, and The Pillars in Harlem. SF Bay Area drag queen Kochina Rude accompanied Rice as a partner and advocate in this work to educate audiences at drag shows and distribute free naloxone.
