SAN FRANCISCO, Wednesday, February 7, 2024 – In the weeks leading up to the March 5, 2024, Consolidated Presidential Primary Election, Department of Elections outreach staff will host approximately 50 pop-up voter registration and neighborhood walk events across the city. Many of these events will be held in neighborhoods in which residents have been historically less engaged with elections, as based on voter registration and turnout statistics. At these events, multilingual event staff will offer registration and pre-registration forms, information about election programs and services, and poll worker applications.

“For the upcoming March 5 election, we have developed outreach programs designed to reach both currently registered local voters and eligible but as yet unregistered San Francisco residents,” said Director John Arntz.  “Pop-up events can make it convenient for San Franciscans to register to vote, learn about their voting options, and get their preferred ballots for the primary.”

Eligible San Francisco residents who register online at registertovote.ca.gov or with a paper registration form by February 20 will receive their March 5 vote-by-mail ballot packet in the mail. Any local voter can update their registration (e.g., change party preference or residential address) by the same date to receive the vote-by-mail ballot with their preferred presidential candidates. After February 20, eligible residents can register and vote at the City Hall Voting Center through the close of polls on March 5 or at a polling place on Election Day.

Pop-up voter registration events will be held in a variety of venues, including open air plazas, public parks, and outside of businesses in walkable areas.
