SAN FRANCISCO, Thursday, September 7, 2023 – The Department of Elections reminds San Franciscans that there are still 15 days left to enter the “I Voted!” sticker design contest. The contest’s design submission period opened Monday, August 21 and will continue through Friday, September 22, 2023.
To date, the Department has received over 130 sticker designs. The public can use the Department’s map at sfelections.org/stickermap to see the number of submissions from each Supervisorial District.
“We are delighted to see how much interest San Franciscans have shown in this contest,” said Director John Arntz. “Contestants have submitted so many wonderful designs and we are looking forward to seeing who the public chooses as the final sticker design for the 2024 election cycle. A big thank you and good luck to everyone who has submitted a design or who plans to do so soon!”
The “I Voted!” sticker contest has also resulted in a lot of encouraging feedback, garnering comments like the following:
“I am so excited to participate in the contest and share my respect and love for San Francisco through art.”
“I love this idea! Although I have a special place in my heart for the “old” red sticker too.”
“Thanks for this amazing opportunity for San Francisco artists and creatives.”
After the submission period closes, a five-member panel will evaluate all designs and nominate nine finalist designs. Then, between Tuesday, October 10 and Tuesday, October 17, 2023, members of the public can choose their favorite sticker design or choose to keep the current “I Voted!” sticker. Sticker designs will be displayed at sfelections.org/stickercontest and in a gallery outside Room 48 in City Hall, and anyone can make their choice online or in person.
On Thursday, October 26, 2023, the Department will announce the winner in a ceremony at City Hall.
The winning design will be printed on the sticker issued to all local voters in San Francisco’s March and November 2024 elections. In addition, the first-place winner will receive $1,000, the second-place will receive $500, and the third-place will receive $300.
The Department encourages every San Franciscan to spread the word, submit a design, or help choose the winner.
