SAN FRANCISCO, Wednesday, January 31, 2024 – On February 5, local voters can begin visiting San Francisco’s City Hall Voting Center to participate in the March 5, 2024, Consolidated Presidential Primary Election. Between Monday, February 5 and Monday, March 4, the City Hall Voting Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (except on February 19, which is Presidents’ Day). The Voting Center will also be open on two weekends, February 24-25 and March 2-3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Finally, the Voting Center will be open on Election Day, March 5, between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., along with 501 local polling places.

“With the start of early voting for the March primary, I want to remind all local voters that they can choose from several convenient ways to cast their ballots,” said Director John Arntz. “First, this week, we will be mailing every registered voter a vote-by-mail ballot, which can be returned by mail or hand-delivery. Those who wish to hand-deliver their ballots can do so at City Hall or at one of the 37 official drop boxes located throughout the City. We can also provide emergency ballot delivery and pickup service to any voter who needs it. Such a voter might include, for example, someone in the hospital, a homeless shelter, or a local jail. If you are not sure if you or someone you know qualifies for this service, please do not hesitate to contact us as soon as possible.”

Like all of San Francisco’s polling places, the City Hall Voting Center will be set up to serve people with many different needs. At the Voting Center, any eligible resident can register to vote and any locally registered voter can vote and/or update their registration. (In this election, some voters may choose to change their registered party preference in order to receive a ballot with their preferred presidential candidate.) In addition, any registered voter may opt to mark and cast a paper, touchscreen, or audio ballot, or request curbside voting service by calling (415) 554-4375 or sending a companion inside. Any local voter may also choose to receive an official ballot in English and either Chinese, Filipino, or Spanish, or a facsimile (reference) ballot in Burmese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, or Vietnamese. Finally, assistance in hundreds of languages will be available.

To encourage voters to share their excitement about casting a ballot in this election with friends and family, the City Hall Voting Center will host several photo stations featuring San Francisco’s new “I Voted!” sticker. The new design not only celebrates local artists and engagement, but also highlights the City’s natural beauty and the impact individual choice has on our community. Throughout the early voting period, voters will be invited to use one of these stations to take a selfie for posting and to remind others to vote. Visitors too young to vote will have the opportunity to pose with an “I Am a Future Voter” sign.
