SAN FRANCISCO, Tuesday, January 23, 2024 – The Department of Elections launched its Vote Ready Tool for the March 5, 2024, Consolidated Presidential Primary Election. This multilingual tool, available at sfelections.org/voteready,  can help any local voter understand their voting options and get the ballot with the presidential contest they want to vote for in the March 5 election.

“The Department’s new Vote Ready Tool is a great example of our on-going efforts to prioritize delivery of more efficient and accessible digital election resources to the growing proportion of the local electorate that prefers to receive and send information digitally,” said Director John Arntz. “Last year, as part of this on-going project, we simplified the content of all Department webpages; translated those new pages into Chinese, Spanish, and Filipino; and improved the usability of all of our voter self-help online tools. We believe many local voters will find the Department’s updated website to be a reliable and easy-to-use resource for preparing to cast their ballots in the March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election.”

A Vote Ready Tool user can answer three quick questions to get a customized voting plan: 1) Are you registered to vote in San Francisco? 2) Which party preference did you select when registering to vote? and, 3) How are you planning to vote in this election? If the user can answer all three questions right away, they will immediately receive their voting plan with practical advice about how, when, and where to vote in the upcoming primary. If the user is not quite sure how answer some of these questions, they will be guided to informational pages before continuing the process.

All of the voting plans generated by the new tool explain ballot options (including how to get a ballot with any presidential primary candidate), encourage the user to read about candidates and measures in the March Voter Information Pamphlet and, as part of the Department’s “Go Green” initiative, to consider opting out of the paper version of the Pamphlet in favor of viewing the Pamphlet online for future elections. Finally, to engage San Franciscans in participating in the March 5 election, all plans also ask the user to remind their friends and family members to register to vote and to cast their ballot.

This month, the Department invites local voters to consider using any or all of the following online tools:
