For Immediate Release

SAN FRANCISCO, Wednesday, September 13, 2023 – This year, National Voter Registration Day occurs on Tuesday, September 19.  Shortly after, between Monday, October 2 and Friday, October 6, will be National Voter Education Week. In the spirit of these days, the Department of Elections, in collaboration with many of its local voter outreach partners, will facilitate voter registration opportunities across the City.

The Department has also partnered with the San Francisco Public Library (SFPL) to compile two lists of books about voter registration and civic engagement. The SFPL distributed the first list to nearly 300,000  subscribers as part of its September newsletter. The Unified School District plans to provide the second list to all K-12 families in coming weeks. Both lists are available on SFPL’s website and as paper bookmarks at local library branches.

“Over the course of the next few weeks, our Outreach Team will be out in many City neighborhoods to help new voters register. They will also be educating the public about the March presidential primary. We want to make sure every eligible San Franciscan has the opportunity to have their voice heard this spring,” said Director John Arntz. “If you are already registered, you can make sure your address and party preference are current by going online to sfelections.org/voterportal or by contacting the Department.”

Between now and the end of September, the Department’s Outreach Team will host voter registration and resource tables and/or provide education presentations according to the schedule below.
