    Submit a public comment before a meeting

    We encourage the public to submit comments before the meeting. You can:

    • Email us at civilservice@sfgov.org
    • Call the Commission's main office at 628-652-1100 and leave a message
    • Call the Commission's dedicated public comment line at 415-655-0001 and enter the access code.

    If you submit your comment by 5 pm the Friday before the meeting, it will be included in the record.

    Follow these steps to call in

    • Call 415-655-0001 and enter the access code
    • Press #
    • Press # again to be connected to the meeting (you will hear a beep)

    Make a public comment 

    • After you've joined the call, listen to the meeting and wait until it's time for public comment
    • When the clerk announces it's time for public comment, dial *3 to get added to the speaker line
    • You will hear “You have raised your hand to ask a question. Please wait to speak until the host calls on you"
    • When you hear "Your line has been unmuted," you can make your public comment

    When you call

    • Make sure you're in a quiet place
    • Speak slowly and clearly
    • Turn off any TVs or radios
    • Speak to the Commission as a whole, not to specific Commissioners

    Your rights under the Sunshine Ordinance

    Your rights under the Sunshine Ordinance

    Government’s duty is to serve the public, reaching its decisions in full view of the public. Commissions, boards, councils, and other agencies of the City and County exist to conduct the people’s business. This ordinance assures that deliberations are conducted before the people and that City operations are open to the people’s review.

    The Civil Service Commission normally meets in Room 400 (Fourth Floor) City Hall, 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place. City Hall is wheelchair accessible. When we don't meet in this room, our meetings are in the Civic Center area.
