    Public comment

    Public comment

    The Commission will hear public comment on all agenda items before or during discussion of the item. Members of the public may address the Commission for up to three minutes on any matter within the Commission’s jurisdiction that does not appear on the agenda, however, the period of time allowed for public comment may be modified by the Chair in the interest of fairness to all those wishing to address the Commission.  Speakers shall address their remarks to the Commission as a whole and not to individual Commissioners or Department personnel. The lack of a response by the Commissioners or Department personnel does not necessarily constitute agreement with or support of statements made during public comment.

    Commissioners and JPD staff will convene the Program Committee Meetings remotely by teleconference until March 2023. Instructions for remote public access during meetings are copied below. 

    Members of the public may submit their public comment on agenda items in advance or by phone in the teleconference meeting by emailing comments to JUV-ProbationCommission@sfgov.org, or by leaving your comment via voicemail at 415-753-7556. Comments submitted no later than 5 PM the Monday before the meeting will be read into the record by the Secretary during the teleconference meeting and will be treated as a substitute to providing public comment by phone during the meeting.

    Persons who submit written public comment in advance on an agenda item or items will not be permitted to also provide public comment on the same agenda item(s) by phone during the meeting.

    INSTRUCTIONS FOR REMOTE PUBLIC COMMENT CALLERS DURING MEETING ONLY

    1. CALL-IN: +1-415-655-0001 enter Access Code found on the agenda or posted on website, and Press #
    2. When asked for a “meeting ID,” press # again.
    3. When the Secretary calls for public comment dial “ *3 ” (Star 3) to be added to speaker line (follow prompts).
    4. When the host says your line is unmuted, you may begin your public comment.
    5. You will have 3 minutes to provide your comments.
    6. Once your 3 minutes have ended you will be moved back to listening as a meeting participant.
    7. Participants who wish to provide public comment on other agenda items may stay on the meeting line and listen the host's prompt.
    8. Please address the Commission as a whole, and please do not address individual Commissioners.
