    Overview

    This is the regular in-person monthly public meeting of the Sheriff's Department Oversight Board. Members of the Sheriff’s Department Oversight Board will attend this meeting in-person. Members of the public are invited to observe the meeting in-person or remotely online as described below. Except as noted below for persons with disabilities requiring reasonable accommodation, only members of the public attending the meeting in person will have an opportunity to provide public comment.

    Agenda

    1. Sheriff’s Office Report (Informational)

      Report from Nick Gregoratos, Director of Prisoner Legal Services (PLS), on what his department does for incarcerated individuals.

      Discussion will be limited to determining whether to calendar any of the issues raised for future Board meetings.

    2. Department of Police Accountability Presentation (DPA) (Informational)

      Erick Baltazar, Chief Investigator for DPA, will appear to give a presentation on how investigations are handled when received.

    3. Quarterly Report (Discussion and Action)

      Review and discuss SDOB evaluations and outreach for the 3rd quarter report due to the Sheriff and Board of Supervisors pursuant to SF Charter 4.137.

    4. Rescheduling 2024 SDOB Regular Meetings (Discussion and Possible Action)

      Discussion and possible action on rescheduling meeting dates in 2024: January 5 to January 12 and July 5 to July 12. The rescheduled meetings will be in Room 408.

    Know Your Rights Under the Sunshine Act

    Government's duty is to serve the public, reaching its decisions in full view of the public. Commissions, boards, councils, and other agencies of the City and County exist to conduct the people's business. This ordinance assures that deliberations are conducted before the people and that City operations are open to the people's review. For information on your rights under the Sunshine Ordinance (Chapters 67 of the San Francisco Administrative Code) or to report a violation of the ordinance, please contact: Sunshine Ordinance Task Force Administrator in Room 244 at City Hall, 1 Dr. Carlton B.     Per the Language Access Ordinance (Chapter 91 of the San Francisco Administrative Code), Chinese, Spanish, and or Filipino (Tagalog) interpreters will be available upon request. Meeting Minutes may be translated if requested after they have been adopted by the Commission. Assistance in additional languages may be honored whenever possible. To request assistance with these services please contact the SDA Office of Inspector General at (v) 415.241.7711 at least 48 hours in advance of the hearing. Late requests will be honored if possible.

    Sheriff's Department Oversight Board hearings are held in Room 400 at City Hall, 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place in San Francisco. City Hall is accessible to persons using wheelchairs and other assistive mobility devices. Ramps are available at the Grove, Van Ness and McAllister entrances. The closest accessible BART station is Civic Center Station. For information about SFMTA service, please call 311.
    Assistive listening devices, real-time captioning, American Sign Language interpreters, readers, large print agendas, or other accommodations are available upon request. Please make your requests for accommodations to the SDA - Office of the Inspector General at (v) 415.241-7711. Requesting accommodations at least 72 hours prior to the meeting will help to ensure availability.
