Make Them Strong
Your passwords should be as strong as possible. Try:
- using a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters
- making a long password — at least 12 characters
- using special characters, e.g. @, $, !, and numbers
Make Them Unique
Don't reuse your passwords. That's asking for trouble!
Tip: try using a password manager, e.g. Keychain on Apple devices or the built-in password managers for Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Edge.
Keep Them Fresh!
Don't let your passwords go stale. Update your passwords every 6 months to stay protected.
Keep Them Safe!
Only you should know your password.
If anyone asks you for your password in text, email, over the phone... they are probably a scammer!
Tip: IT or tech support will never ask for your password!
