Dear San Francisco Voter,

You’re receiving this Voter Information Booklet because you’ve registered to vote in the November 5, 2024, Board of Education Election.

You will receive your ballot in October. This ballot will list one Board of Education contest, and you may vote for up to four candidates.

Please note: Local law permits non-citizen voters to vote in Board of Education contest only and not in any other local, state, or federal contests or measures.

You have options for how you cast your vote: by mail, in person at the City Hall Voting Center, or at a polling place.

After voting, if you’d like, you can contact the Department of Elections to request a “Certificate of Eligibility”. This certificate verifies your eligibility to vote in the Board of Education contest under local law.

Returning Your Vote-By-Mail Ballot
If you drop your ballot in a blue USPS box, check the collection time. The Department counts ballots postmarked by Election Day, November 5, 2024. Find USPS boxes and times at usps.com/locator.

From October 7 to 8 p.m. on Election Day, San Francisco will have 37 drop boxes. Any voter can use them. Locations are in this booklet and at sfelections.gov/ballotdropoff.

On Election Day, you can also return your voted ballot to any of the City’s 501 neighborhood polling places, open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. You can find the locations of polling places on our website at sfelections.gov/myvotinglocation.

Accessible voting by mail
Starting October 7, you can access and mark your ballot using your own assistive technology at sfelections.gov/ncvaccess. After marking the ballot, print it out, place it in the envelope, and return the envelope to the Department by 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Voting at the City Hall Voting Center
On October 7, the Department will open its Voting Center located inside City Hall, which is available to all voters.

The Voting Center will be open every weekday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., and the two weekends prior to Election Day (October 26–27, and November 2–3), 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Election Day, November 5, 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.

The Voting Center serves all City residents who want to vote in person, drop off their voted ballots, use accessible voting equipment, or, after the October 21 registration deadline, to register and vote provisionally.

Voting at a polling place
On Election Day, polling places will open for in-person voting and vote-by-mail ballot drop-off from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
