Statement of ADA Compliance
The San Francisco Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing (HSH) is committed to complying with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Our Statement of ADA Compliance outlines HSH’s efforts and policies to ensure compliance with the law to the public.
Title II Compliance Statement
HSH is required to comply with Title II of the ADA. We are dedicated to accessibility and inclusivity. This includes doing the following:
- Ensuring effective communication, including providing accessible materials and documents, using assistive technology, and providing interpreters for individuals with hearing or visual impairments.
- Processing requests for modifications to our policies, procedures, and practices, to ensure that individuals with disabilities can participate in all our programs, services, and activities.
- Ensuring City facilities are accessible, bringing City facilities up to accessibility standards set by ADA Standards, the Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards, the California Building Code access requirements, and all other applicable requirements, removing barriers that are identified through the Self-Evaluation process, and holding events and meetings at sites everyone can access.
- Maintaining a Transition Plan that outlines the barriers to accessibility that were identified in the Self-Evaluation process, and that identifies each barrier, establishes a timeline for addressing each barrier, and establishes how the barrier will be removed, including identifying the costs. This also includes ensuring that the Plan is updated as needed, such as when new sites are procured or when new policies are being written and implemented.
- Adhering to the established HSH ADA Grievance Policy for investigating ADA Title II grievances received by HSH on the basis of disability.
- Ensuring our programs and services comply with the ADA Title II requirements.
