Create a cover sheet for your plans

Follow these instructions to create a cover sheet for your architectural plans.

We will only process plans that follow these guidelines. 

For plans submitted for electronic plan review, review our rules to format your PDF correctly.

For all projects, include this information as well.

Project information

Your cover sheet must show:

  • Project name
  • Project location, including address and block and lot
  • Project description

Index

List all of the sheets in the plan set and the contents of each sheet.

Location map and site plan

Include a site plan and location map.

The site plan shows the location on the lot and any additional features like driveways, fences, and existing buildings. Include any site plan notes that you need.

Specifications

To help us understand your plans, include:

  • Abbreviations
  • Legend
  • General symbols
  • Project data
  • Code data

Title block

Include a title block. Title blocks must have 3 consistent items on every sheet in the entire set: 

  • Location and formatting of sheet number
  • Location and formatting of sheet name
  • Blank area for stamps

Design professional information

Include the name and contact information for the design professional. Include their signature or stamp.

Include a drawn by name and date.
